I want to book, but I’m nervous. Is this normal?
Completely. Almost every client feels a little nervous before their session. Being seen in such an intimate way can feel vulnerable—but it’s also what makes the experience so powerful.
You don’t need to know how to pose or perform in front of the camera. Every detail is guided with care—from wardrobe and styling to natural movement and expression—so you always feel supported and confident.
During the session, we’ll occasionally share images on the back of the camera so you can see just how beautiful everything looks. For many clients, that moment is when the nerves fade, and the experience truly begins to feel exciting.

Am I too old for a boudoir or erotic After Dark Experience?
Absolutely not. Intimate photography is not about age—it’s about confidence and self-expression. Our clients range from their twenties to their eighties and beyond. Every stage of life deserves to be celebrated.
I’m not a model. Will I still look good?
Absolutely. In fact, the people you see in our portfolio are not professional models—they are everyday clients who simply trusted the process.
You don’t need to know how to pose or perform in front of the camera. That’s our job. Every movement, expression, and detail is guided so you feel confident and look incredible.
Your only job is to show up. We’ll take care of the rest.
I have no idea how to pose. Will you tell me what to do?
Absolutely. You never need to know how to pose before you arrive—that’s our job.
Every movement is fully guided and demonstrated so you always know exactly what to do with your body, hands, and expression. We’ll walk you through each pose step by step, adjusting the smallest details to create images that feel natural and flattering.
Think of it as direction rather than posing. All you need to do is follow along—we take care of the rest.
Is hair and makeup included?
Yes. Complimentary professional hair styling, makeup, and lashes are included for one person in all of our Boudoir and Erotic Experiences.
Our styling team creates camera-ready looks tailored to you—from soft, natural beauty to full editorial glam. If you have inspiration images or a specific style in mind, you’re welcome to bring them. Otherwise, simply relax and allow our artists to craft a look that photographs beautifully and feels authentically you.
We work with some of the most talented artists in the local industry, carefully chosen for their ability to work with all skin tones, ages, and hair types.
For the best results, please arrive at the studio with a clean, moisturized face and clean, dry hair so we can begin your styling right away.
Then all that’s left to do is settle in and enjoy the experience.
Should I lose weight before my session?
No. You don’t need to change your body before your experience.
Boudoir is about celebrating yourself as you are today, not waiting for some future version of yourself. Many clients tell us they almost postponed their session until they lost weight—and later say they’re so glad they didn’t.
Your session is designed to highlight confidence, presence, and self-expression exactly as you are in this moment.
Do I need to bring my own outfits?
Not unless you’d like to. Our studio offers a curated client wardrobe with pieces ranging from XS to 6X, primarily featuring lingerie and intimate styling pieces.
Every experience includes one look, and we typically recommend having three to four outfit options available. Many clients choose a combination of pieces from the studio wardrobe and items they bring from home.
If you prefer not to wear lingerie, we recommend bringing your own clothing options such as shirts, sweaters, jackets, denim, robes, or other pieces that fit the style you’d like to create.
For hygiene reasons, we ask all clients trying on outfits from our wardrobe to bring a black or nude thong to wear under wardrobe pieces. Personal touches like thigh highs, ties, belts, fishnets, shoes, or jewelry are also wonderful additions that help make your session feel uniquely yours.
When you arrive, we’ll review everything together and select the looks that photograph best for your session.
Do I have to get naked?
Not at all. Intimate photography is not about nudity—it’s about confidence, mood, and self-expression.
Some clients choose partial or full nudity, while others prefer to remain fully covered. The experience is always designed around your comfort level.
Before your session, you’ll complete a short questionnaire that helps us understand your boundaries, preferences, and how much you’d like to be encouraged to explore outside your comfort zone.
Lingerie is also completely optional. Clients often bring pieces that fit their personal style or the mood they want to create, and you’ll also have access to our curated Client Closet with options ranging from soft and romantic to bold and dramatic.
How far in advance should I book my experience?
Most clients book 4–6 months in advance, though occasional last-minute openings do appear depending on availability.
If you’re planning your session for a specific date—such as a birthday, anniversary, or gift- we recommend scheduling early. Handcrafted products like albums and wall art can take up to eight weeks for delivery.
Sessions may be reserved as far as 18 months in advance.
How long does the experience last?
Your experience typically lasts 5–7 hours, including professional hair and makeup, wardrobe planning, your photoshoot, and your same-day image reveal.
Should I get a tan before my session?
We recommend avoiding spray tans for 4–6 weeks before your session. Spray tans can transfer onto our white bedding and furnishings and often photograph unevenly under studio lighting.
We also suggest avoiding tanning beds for 2–3 weeks prior to your experience, as they can create skin tones that are difficult to photograph naturally.
Your natural skin tone photographs beautifully, and our lighting and editing are designed to enhance it in the most flattering way.
Can I bring a friend?
While it may sound fun to bring a guest, we’ve found that clients often feel more relaxed and free to fully enjoy the experience without an audience.
Our goal is to create a space where you can let go, feel confident, and focus entirely on yourself. With our team guiding you every step of the way, most clients quickly settle in and feel completely comfortable in the studio.
If you require a support person or special assistance, please let us know in advance so we can make the appropriate accommodations.
What is the Difference between Boudoir and Erotica?
Boudoir and erotica exist on a spectrum of intimacy and expression. Both are deeply personal experiences, but they explore different visual languages.
A Classic Boudoir Experience is typically sensual, romantic, and suggestive. Many sessions include lingerie, tailored underwear, robes, or partially covered looks that focus on confidence, atmosphere, and beauty. Some clients choose implied nudity, while others prefer to remain fully covered.
An After Dark (Erotic, Kink, BDSM, or Fetish) Experience explores a more explicit or provocative aesthetic and usually requires additional planning, communication, and creative direction in advance.
Everyone who comes into the studio has their own comfort level with nudity and expression, and that is always respected. Some boudoir sessions involve no nudity at all, while erotic sessions are intentionally designed from the beginning.
One important distinction: a Boudoir Experience will not be converted into an Erotic Experience during the session. If you’re curious about the differences and what may be right for you, you can learn more HERE.
What type of products do you offer?
We offer a curated selection of Portugese hand-made artwork, including luxury Alluring Albums, folio boxes, and museum-quality metal wall art designed to showcase your images beautifully.
Many clients choose one of our Creative Collections, which bundle our most popular pieces together. A current favorite is The Enticement, featuring a 10×10 album, your full digital collection, metal wall art, and a private mobile gallery.
What is the cost?
Boudoir Experiences begin at $750, and Erotic and Couples’ Experiences begin at $1,000. Each includes professional hair and makeup for one, access to our curated client wardrobe, and a fully guided photoshoot.
After your session, you’ll return for a private image reveal, where you’ll view your photographs and select your favorite images for your artwork and digital images.
Images and printed art are purchased separately. A la Carte begins at $750, and Collections begin at $3,500, with most clients investing between $3,500 and $6,000.
Full investment is reviewed during your Discovery Call, and flexible, interest-free payment plans are available.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We offer custom pre-payment plans called Boudie Banks.
Your experience fee is due when booking, and many clients choose to pre-pay toward their artwork and image collection over time. This allows your investment to feel effortless—and often means everything is already taken care of by the time your session arrives.
During your private image reveal, you’ll see examples of our albums and artwork in the studio and can add or upgrade anything you love.
What is the Boudie Bank?
The Boudie Bank is our custom pre-experience payment plan. It allows you to pre-pay toward your image collection over time with zero interest, no fees, and no credit checks.
Many clients book their session months in advance and use the Boudie Bank to make smaller monthly payments leading up to their shoot. By the time their session arrives, everything is already taken care of—allowing them to simply enjoy the experience.
Clients who pre-purchase their Creative or Digital Collections may also unlock exclusive set bonuses, such as our Archangel Wings or Rain Shower sets.
Do you offer digitals?
We sure do! This is your Experience, and we offer a variety of options. We offer Digital Collections for clients only interested in digital images. Many of our Creative Collections include the corresponding digital files with your album, or you can add matching digitals to any a la carte album. Best of all, digital files also include an exclusive personal print license.
Do you retouch the images?
Yes. Professional retouching is included with all purchased images.
Our approach is refined and natural—designed to enhance, not alter. We remove temporary distractions such as blemishes, bruises, redness, or under-eye shadows while preserving the texture and character that make you look like you.
Because of our careful posing, lighting, and direction, heavy editing is rarely necessary. The goal is not to change your body, but to present you at your absolute best.
You’ll still look like you—just on your very best day.
Will my images be shared?
Only if you choose.
Your privacy is always respected, and many clients prefer to keep their images completely private. Others feel inspired to share their photographs as part of their story of confidence, self-expression, or transformation.
Any images you see on our website or social media have been shared with written permission from the client.
During your image reveal session, we’ll review our model release together and discuss whether you’d like to allow any images to be shared. We will only ever publish the photographs you explicitly approve.
How quickly will I receive my images?
Digital images are delivered through a private online gallery within 14 business days of your session.
Custom artwork such as albums and wall art are carefully crafted and typically arrive at your home within 6–8 weeks.
If you’re planning your session for a special occasion, we recommend scheduling your experience with these timelines in mind.
Who owns the copyright to my images?
By law, the photographer who creates an image holds the copyright to that photograph. This means Boudoir by J. Anderson retains copyright ownership of all images created during your session.
That said, your privacy is always respected. Your photographs are never shared publicly without your explicit written permission through a separate image release.
The images you purchase are yours to enjoy and share for personal use, as outlined in your photography agreement. Commercial use, resale, or third-party licensing is not permitted without written authorization.
In some cases, clients may choose to purchase full copyright ownership of specific images. This transfers all rights of the photograph to you. Copyright transfers begin at $1,500 per image.
When will I see my photos?
You won’t have to wait weeks to see your images.
Your private image reveal and ordering session happens the same day as your shoot, just a few minutes after we finish photographing. You’ll relax in the studio while we prepare your gallery, then return to view your images beautifully presented on the big screen.
During this appointment, you’ll choose your favorite photographs and select the artwork and digital collections you’d like to take home.
It’s one of the most exciting parts of the experience—seeing yourself in a completely new way.
What if I don’t like my photos?
This is a very common concern before a session—but in all the years we’ve been photographing clients, we’ve never had someone say this after seeing their images.
We intentionally overshoot during your experience to create a wide variety of photographs, ensuring there are many images you’ll connect with. Through expert direction, thoughtful lighting, and careful styling, we capture a range of looks and expressions throughout your session.
During your same-day image reveal, you’ll simply choose the photographs you love most. If an image doesn’t resonate with you, you never have to purchase it. Most clients find the real challenge is narrowing down their favorites.
Where are you located?
Our private studio is located in Mesa, Arizona.
